Harrison Armstrong is enjoying a breakthrough season at Everton.

The 19-year-old spent the first half the previous campaign on loan at Preston in the Championship.

David Moyes recalled the teenager in January, but he struggled for game time in the back end of last season.

This term, though, Armstrong has started all six of Everton's Premier League game and has been a top performer for the Toffees.

He has totalled 524 minutes in the top flight, averaging 87 minutes per game, and is a player with huge potential.

Armstrong has now been speaking about Everton's fanbase, and one "special" act they did that he really loved.

Harrison Armstrong talks about summer controversy at Everton

Armstrong's breakthrough campaign almost did not happen after a controversial decision surrounding his future in the summer.

Back in the last transfer window, it was reported that Everton were ready to accept a deal worth £40million for Armstrong from Nottingham Forest.

The Toffees fanbase reacted with fury to the news that the club's hierarchy were ready to sell a top, home-grown prospect to a divisional rival.

Eventually, the powers that be opted to pull the plug on the sale, and Armstrong has since cemented himself in Moyes' plans.

Armstrong has now opened up on what went down, and waxed lyrical over the Everton fanbase for the support he received.

Speaking to EvertonTV, Armstrong said: "The (support) has meant the world to me and my family.

"In a moment where - I understand it’s part of the game and you’re going to have to experience moments like that, but for a fanbase to get involved and show as much support as they did, is special.

“I don’t think I’ve seen that before. I’ve given me confidence, it’s made me feel loved. And it’s cemented that this is the place to be for me.”

Common sense prevailed in Harrison Armstrong Everton decision

There were several misteps from Everton's transfer brains trust in the summer window.

It is well documented just how badly the window went, and TFG's statement signalling their openness to selling has shone a light on why things went down as they did.

But, at least some common sense prevailed with the decision to reverse their plans to sell Armstrong to Forest.

That decision would have been absolutely scandalous, selling a player with such huge potential to a side you're competing again, it just would have made zero sense.

Thankfully Armstrong stayed put, and hopefully he can continue on the right path in an Everton shirt.
