Jarrad Branthwaite has sent a four-word message to Lewis Warrington after the midfielder confirmed his Everton exit.

The 21-year-old only made two senior appearances for the Toffees during his time at Goodison Park, being sent out on loan multiple times.

Warrington experienced loan spells with Tranmere Rovers, Fleetwood Town and Plymouth Argyle over the last three seasons, but has now left the club permanently.

Reacting to Warrington's Instagram post on Monday (15 July), Branthwaite wrote: "All the best lad."

Nathan Patterson also commented, writing "All the best laa", while Lewis Dobbin reacted with a blue heart emoji.

Having joined the club at the age of six, fans will be disappointed to see Warrington's career on Merseyside end like this.

The 21-year-old was showing great promise during his multiple loan spells and was awarded his Premier League debut by Sean Dyche at the end of the 2023/24 season.

He came on as a late substitute in the Toffees' 1-0 win over Sheffield United, replacing Andre Gomes in added time at Goodison Park.

Although it was only a few moments on the pitch, Warrington would have been extremely proud to be living the dream, though hopes of becoming a first-team regular are over now.

Branthwaite, who has also been linked with an exit this summer [Dharmesh Sheth, 15 July], will know exactly how tough it is to break into the first-team set-up, having been sent out on loan to Blackburn Rovers and PSV Eindhoven.

Some fans may have been expecting Warrington to make a breakthrough into Dyche's team soon. However, he was one of many youngsters not to be handed a new contract at the end of last season.

Clearly shown by his Instagram post, and the outpouring of goodbyes, Warrington meant just as much to the club as the Toffees meant to him, despite only making two senior appearances.

He was a success in the club's academy sides, developing well before being sent out on loans to gain real experience. Now, another team will be looking to benefit from his addition.
