Jason Cundy corrects himself after what he just said about Everton on talkSPORT

Everton supporters head home to Merseyside jubilant after what they saw in the 1-0 win against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The Toffees left it late (12 April) to sting Forest on the break through Abdoulaye Doucoure's last-gasp strike, four minutes into stoppage time in front of the packed away end on the Trent.

It continues a fine run under David Moyes, while Forest are left anxiously peering over their shoulder in their hopes of qualification for the Champions League.

Everton have now moved above Tottenham Hotspur into 14th in the Premier League following their victory at a place so many before them have fallen this season.

The Toffees made it a cagey affair, resolute at the back as is often the case, brushing off the boost Nuno Espirito Santo had by welcoming Chris Wood back to his Forest line-up.

Jason Cundy, speaking live on talkSPORT (12 April, 17:37) following the final whistle, initially called the 1-0 win a "smash-and-grab", which could imply Everton snatched a win they didn't necessarily deserve.

However, Cundy immediately corrected himself and admitted that would not be a fair term to describe the victory, which moves Everton 18 points clear of the drop zone of which they were staring down the barrel when Moyes first arrived.

"Everton, what a smash-and-grab. Actually, that's not fair," he confessed.

"Smash-and-grab is not fair. It was a pretty even game throughout the 90 minutes - it's a 'wounder' for Forest because Man City won, Aston Villa won, Newcastle have two games in hand and Chelsea play [Sunday] against Ipswich."

Cundy then agreed alongside co-host Jermaine Pennant that a draw would have been a fair result, but gave props to the Toffees for the latest in a lengthy string of impressive results.

Everton have faced each of the Premier League's current top three back-to-back within the last 10 days, taking four points in total.

It comes remarkably to a Toffees support-base who spent at least half of this season feeling consigned to yet another relegation battle, with the threat of Championship football cutting the ribbon on Bramley-Moore Dock looming large.

However, Moyes has inspired a tremendous turnaround, and while Everton are far from any kind of finished article, they are approaching these games with the knowledge they can strive for a result.

This attitude will come in more than handy against a Manchester City side at Goodison Park who are beginning to rekindle their form at the right time, before Chelsea host the Merseysiders at Stamford Bridge.

As for Forest, they will be hoping Everton can now do them a favour after leaving them dejected on their own patch this weekend.
