Kai Hutchison puts David Moyes on notice with latest scenes away from Everton

Everton youngster Kai Hutchison continued his rapid rise to stardom in the international break.

The 16-year-old signed for Everton from Dundee United's youth system in July.

He linked up with David Moyes' sides Under-18's after rejected professional terms with the Tannadice Park club.

The Blues agreed a compensation package with the Scottish Premiership club, meaning that it would not go to tribunal.

There is plenty of excitement over his arrival on Merseyside, as he was one of Scotland's biggest talents.

Moyes has now been put on notice after what Hutchison has done away from Finch Farm.

What did Kai Hutchison do away from Everton that will have caught David Moyes' eye?

Hutchison was selected in David McCallum’s Scotland Under-17's squad for the international break.

He justified that selection with a strike in the 5-0 win over Spanish club side Real Murcia on Wednesday.

Teammate Lennon Watt took the headlines with a hat-trick against the third-tier outfit, and Marcello De Barros also notched a strike.

However, Moyes' attention will solely be on Hutchison and his progress after poaching him away from the Tangerines.

How has Hutchison performed in Everton's academy so far?

Hutchison has notched one strike in two matches for the Blues' Under-18 side so far.

That goal came in a 4-0 victory over Wolves on 12 September, in a 31-minute cameo for Matthew Taylor's side.

However, his next appearance came in a 6-0 loss to Manchester City Under-18's a week later, where he could not make an impact in the 59 minutes that he was on the pitch.

That suggests that he still has a while to go before he can be considered for a promotion to the Under-21's.

However, that is hardly a surprise given his young age, and it may be a long time before we see Hutchison in the first-team picture.

Moyes will be encouraged by his latest display on the international stage, but he will not rush him into the senior ranks.

The Scottish manager never usually throws youngsters in at the deep end like he has done with Harrison Armstrong, and if anything, is too conservative with their development, so it will be a long journey for the promising youngster.

If he continues on his current trajectory, though, he may find himself making the breakthrough in the coming years.
