Nottingham Forest handed six-figure fine after Everton controversy at Goodison Park
Nottingham Forest have been fined £750,000 for a social media post after their defeat to Everton last season, according to Dale Johnson.
The ESPN journalist reported via X on Friday (11 October) that the Toffees Premier League rivals have been hit with a fine after they questioned the impartiality of VAR Stuart Atwell following their 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park.
Forest had suggested that Atwell was a Luton Town fan and was therefore biased against Nuno Espirito Santo's side in a bid to help the Hatters avoid the drop out of the Premier League.
On top of their six-figure fine, Forest have also been warned "for misconduct in relation to comments posted on social media".

When Forest made their social media post after the final whistle at Goodison Park last season, it took the footballing world by storm as fans and pundits alike were baffled as to just what the club were attempting to do.
Even the most biased of Everton fans would have admitted the Toffees were rather lucky to get away with several decisions in that contest, but to suggest that was because the VAR was biased was just unbelievable.
Questioning the integrity of an official in such a public fashion so soon after a game was ridiculous and it is good to see that the Premier League have actually punished that sort of behaviour, even if that sort of fine is nothing in the modern footballing world.
If any club is within its rights to feel unfairly treated by the Premier League over the last few years it is the Toffees. They have had to deal with so many contentious issues on and off of the pitch that have been shrouded in controversy.
Hopefully, Forest will have learned from this experience and we won't see any similar meltdowns if they lose at Goodison Park this season.
