Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to keep Everton target Donny van de Beek
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is unlikely to let Everton target Donny van de Beek leave in January, according to ESPN.
The report states that even if the Dutchman's prospects of regular first-team football do not improve, the Manchester United boss still wants him to stay.
This comes after Fabrizio Romano stated that the 24-year-old would leave for sure if he doesn't get playing time at Old Trafford.
The ESPN report reads, "Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be reluctant to let Donny van de Beek leave Manchester United in January even if the midfielder's prospects at Old Trafford do not improve, sources have told ESPN."
Conundrum
The Toffees came extremely close to signing him in the summer, but Ole pulled the plug as he wanted the player to stay.
However, since the window has shut, van de Beek has been a bit-part player at the club and is yet to start a league for the Manchester giants.
Given the club's dearth of creative options in midfield, the 24-year-old would be a welcome addition.
Van de Beek seems to divide opinions, but is rated highly by former Premier League midfielder Owen Hargreaves.
Speaking about the Dutchman on BT Sport (25/11/20, 10:15pm), Hargreaves said, “I thought Van de Beek was close to perfect.
“He is so unselfish, he can just fit in and play the right balls everywhere."
Hopefully, the Toffees keep up their interest in the player as he would bring a different dimension to this Rafa Benitez side and would further their chances of finishing in the European places.
