Rio Ferdinand fears Manchester United could be swept aside by Liverpool in their FA Cup tie after what he saw in the Everton match.

Everton created a number of opportunities in Saturday's (9 March) Premier League contest at Old Trafford but ultimately fell to a 2-0 loss.

The Toffees had 23 shots, six of which were on target, but a lack of quality in front of goal meant they largely untroubled Andre Onana.

Speaking on the Vibe With Five podcast [11 March, 22m 28s], Ferdinand said: "We were open. They had 11 chances in the first half alone.

"They ain't got a number nine with any confidence to punish us, so it was okay, but play like that against Liverpool and we'll get opened up and despatched."

Everton unable to find a way past Manchester United

The performance at Old Trafford was pretty much the story of Everton's season. Had their been a prolific goalscorer leading the line, any relegation fears would be banished.

Sean Dyche has tried to change things by bringing in Beto in place of Dominic Calvert-Lewin - a decision which Chris Sutton believes will leave the dropped forward "angry".

United were there to be got at and Everton are not alone in having a field day in terms of getting shots away. Ferdinand is not wrong in saying they could soon be on the end of a hammering.

The truth is that if Ollie Watkins was leading the line, say, Everton would be turning narrow defeats and draws into victories.

It is a problem Dyche must find a solution to during the warm-weather training camp in order to turn things around upon our return to action at Bournemouth on 30 March.
