An unnamed Scottish Premier League side are reportedly keen on signing Everton midfielder Beni Baningime.

According to the Liverpool Echo, he has attracted a suitor from Scotland and is expected to be made available again by the club despite being part of first-team training under Rafa Benitez.

Baningime, who spent the second half of last season out on loan at Derby County, has entered the final year of his contract at Goodison Park.

Needs a chance under Rafa

The 22-year-old has been at the club even before he was a teenager and has emerged up the ranks to be a first-team player.

He's also impressed David Unsworth who's referred to him as 'outstanding' according to The Liverpool Echo.

Prior to the 2017/18 season, he was on the periphery of the senior squad and made his debut for us in the EFL Cup against Chelsea.

A few days after the game against the London outfit, he made his Premier League bow against Leicester City.

He was even a regular part of our Europa League squad and also came on in the second half for the Merseyside derby.

However, once Marco Silva came through the door, Baningime's progress was halted and his Toffees career has hit a major roadblock since then.

Now, under a new manager and a number of players out on extended leave, the 22-year-old has found himself the perfect opportunity to impress and fight for his future at the club.

He's been part of the senior training squad in pre-season and Benitez must spend some time with him before making a definitive decision about the player.

If we're selling the likes of Fabian Delph and Andre Gomes, we will be needing bodies in midfield and if Baningime continues to impress in training, we could see him closer to the first team next season.
