Sean Dyche has handed Jesper Lindstrom a start as Everton take on Preston at Deepdale in a pre-season friendly, in team news confirmed by the club's X account.

The Danish winger joined the Toffes on loan from Napoli with an option to buy on 26 July (BBC Sport) and was handed a first start for Saturday's (3 August) clash.

Fellow new buy Jake O'Brien, who joined from Lyon in a £16.4million deal on 30 August (BBC Sport), was named among the substitutes (Liverpool Echo).

Everton fans to get first sight of Lindstrom

Lindstrom will be very keen to make an impression on the blue half of Merseyside having enduring a disappointing time of it in Naples during a solitary season in Serie A.

There should be ample opportunity for the 24-year-old to impress at Goodison Park given the lack of depth Dyche currently has out wide, with Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison - back on another season-long loan from Leeds United - his only other recognised competition.

Everton supporters will be keen to see what Lindstrom can do in what should be a competitive fixture given Preston start their Championship campaign at home to Sheffield United on Friday (9 August).

It will be a good for Dyche to get decent marker of where his side are at with the new Premier League season also on the horizon.

And Lindstrom in particular will be a player fans are keeping a keen eye to see if he can add much-needed creativity to Everton's front line.
