The Friedkin Group to make 'Really smart' Everton decision at Bramley Moore Dock

The Friedkin Group would make a "Really smart" move at Everton if they purchase land around the new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock, Dan Plumley has said.

The Americans are likely to look at purchasing more land around Nelson Dock for possible entertainment and leisure facilities to increase revenue [The Athletic].

Plumley, a football finance expert, admitted that it adds another layer to the revenue mix which can improve the bottom line for the Toffees every year.

"Really smart," he exclusively told Goodison News.

"We're seeing a lot of clubs look to that nowerdays, obviously Everton have got the new stadium which will be hugely important for them moving forward from a revenue-generation point of view.

"The other aspect of that is what else can you do with the facilities that you've got or what land can you buy? You've seen a lot of clubs with hotels and purpose-built venues that are additional to the ground, there is an all manner of things you can do there.

"If that can generate more money for the football club, then that's fantastic, it adds another layer to the revenue mix and ultimately, while we are in a system where the losses are being looked at from a regulatory framework point of view, any increase in revenue will help with the bottom line as well."

With an early-December completion date already mooted for their takeover [Alan Myers], the Friedkin Group will likely look at January and staying in the Premier League first.

Once that opening spell is over, completing the new stadium will come next ahead of moving in next summer and then opening other avenues around the dock.
