Tim Cahill uses one word to sum up Everton's form after what he's witnessed at Hill Dickinson in the flesh
Everton legend Tim Cahill believes "you can feel the fire" around Hill Dickinson Stadium at the moment.
David Moyes' side are unbeaten in all competitions as the first international break of the season remains in full swing.
The Toffees have conceded just three Premier League goals in five games, and have taken wins over Crystal Palace and Ipswich.
Draws against Bournemouth, Manchester United and Tottenham are all good points too, keeping them up with the early pace for the European spots.
As such, regarding matters on the pitch in particular, there is a real feel-good factor around this class of 2026-27 Everton team.
Cahill feels that as well, and has heaped praise on the work Moyes and his group have done so far.
What one word did Tim Cahill use to describe Everton's start to 2026-27?
For how good Everton have been in defence, Moyes' side have struggled slightly in attack, although it hasn't really cost them yet.
Just six league goals have been scored so far this term, and it's only Thierno Barry who has more than one goal to his name.
How, then, Evertonians would love to have a player like Cahill leading the line right now.
Speaking to Outside the Box via Instagram, the 46-year-old who scored 56 Premier League goals for Everton was quizzed on the team's start to this season.
"Fantastic," Cahill said about how Everton have opened the campaign.
"You start a season, you obviously want to start off well, and to be unbeaten is credit to the manager, credit to the football club.
"I've been to a few games at Hill Dickinson and you can feel the fire. The last cup game, great football, there's some good young players coming through."
However, what one reservation does Cahill have about Everton's chances of success in 2026-27?
Cahill thinks Everton Achilles' heel could limit their ceiling
No team is perfect. Some have come close over the years, but there's always something that could be improved.
For Everton, one of the big problems Moyes could face this season is his lack of squad depth.
The Toffees only have 19 players registered to their Premier League squad this term, which is the least amount of any team in the top flight.
Cahill is concerned that this could come back to haunt Everton, and is putting a lid on how excited he's getting over what could be achieved this year.
"I'm excited for the season, but at the same time we're such a small squad," he continued.
"It's difficult to expect too much, but I think we should enjoy a nice international break being in a good position."
