Everton will earn a draw at the London Stadium against West Ham United this weekend, according to former Toffees and Hammers striker Tony Cottee.

Cottee made his prediction live on talkSPORT [5 November] on Tuesday morning, with both teams in sole focus towards Saturday [9 November].

Sean Dyche's side were beaten in controversial circumstances by Southampton last weekend [2 November], ending a run of five games unbeaten in the Premier League.

"I think it will be a tough game for Everton and West Ham," Cottee told co-hosts Ally McCoist and Jeff Stelling.

"If you get me to sit on the fence it will possibly be a draw, but that's not good enough for West Ham - and Everton certainly don't need to lose."

Everton and West Ham know plenty is at stake

Everton have been left licking their wounds from their own problems from Saturday, but it was to a far worse degree for West Ham, who were in the process of being stuffed by Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

There appears to be no better time to face the Irons under Julen Lopetegui, who is under increasing pressure to deliver with a squad which was strengthened at a nine-figure cost over the summer.

Dyche will be well aware that if his Toffees start well, the crowd in East London will not take long to get on their side's backs, and the weekend could provide a real advantage as long as Everton do not shoot themselves in the foot.

It is expected that Jarrad Branthwaite will come into the side for the trip to the capital, with the manager having been criticised for preferring Michael Keane despite Branthwaite being fit enough for the bench.

The Blues have won 75 previous meetings against West Ham to the Irons' 45 [11v11], and the last meeting between the two at the London Stadium resulted in a 1-0 win courtesy of Dominic Calvert-Lewin's winner.
