According to Opta's latest update on their power rankings, Everton have now entered the top 15 best football teams in the world.

They have displaced Brentford who were previously situated in 15th place.

Among the notable sides that the L3 outfit are now above include the likes of Atletico Madrid, sister club Roma, and one-time Champions League winners Porto.

Additionally, European giants AC Milan are situated 30 places below Everton on the list as well.

And right now, Everton deserve their place.

In terms of Premier League teams, Everton are ninth on the list, with Brighton, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal above them.

How Everton are already overachieving and why they must continue to do so

Yes, Everton's squad is light and that drum will be banged at least until January when the clear issues can be solved in the market.

But, until then, Everton must continue to overachieve as they currently are doing now in the league.

While Opta have ranked Everton quite high on their power rankings, in the expected Premier League table, they would be sitting six places lower than they are now.

With six points in the league, Everton are currently sat in seventh place.

However, based on their performances, Opta suggests the Merseyside outfit should actually be in 13th place and only on 3.6 points this season.

If Everton can keep that overachieving up, they will have no issues in qualifying for Europe.
