David Moyes' future as Everton manager is in the spotlight all over again.
Everton's dreadful transfer deadline day - and window as a whole, all things considered - is being felt.
The Toffees' squad has been weakened and Moyes is now left to pick up the pieces.
The Friedkin Group are taking the brunt of the criticism, along with chief executive Angus Kinnear, but Moyes knows fan support could also turn on him if results falter.
Speaking ahead of Everton's Premier League clash with Manchester United on Sunday, the Scotsman has made a surprise revelation about the club's owners.
And Moyes has also indicated where he stands amid talk he could be off before long.
What has David Moyes said following Everton's dreadful transfer window?
Moyes' pre-match press conference on Friday was inevitably dominated by events earlier in the week.
As relayed by Dominic King via The Telegraph, Moyes made it clear he has no intention of leaving Everton.
“Everton’s different. I wouldn’t have come back for anybody but Everton," he told reporters.
"I think the club here has had enough days where the people find a way of recovering.
"People saw the face of Evertonians last week [against Bournemouth] and it can be really powerful. I would expect them to be really powerful now."
Moyes also made the "unusual" admission he has yet to personally meet Dan Friedkin, with Kinnear his main point of contact.
The most natural outcome ahead for Moyes and Everton
Moyes has no intention of walking, and assuming results are not disastrous, there is little chance of him being sacked.
However, the 63-year-old is out of contract at the end of the campaign and there is no suggestion of a new deal being offered.
It means that as things stand, Moyes will be a free agent in eight months' time.
From the outside looking in, it looks certain Moyes will be on his way at the end of the season, with the Friedkins - or whoever is in charge then - going down a different route.
