Ainsley Maitland-Niles spotted away from Merseyside in Everton medical twist

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is inching closer to a move to Everton.

The Toffees are said to have agreed a £4.2million deal with Lyon for the right-back.

David Moyes has been hoping to land a new player in the position, which was taken up by Jake O'Brien last term.

A deal fro Fulham's Kenny Tete appears to have stalled, but Angus Kinnear and Co. had a plan in place.

That plan is Maitland-Niles, as a medical twist ahead of a move to Everton has now been revealed.

Where is Ainsley Maitland-Niles ahead of 11pm deadline?

According to an update from Sky Sports journalist Mark McAdam, Maitland-Niles has landed in Manchester, where he will complete part one of his medical for Everton.

He will then travel to Merseyside, where he will go to Finch Farm to finalise the move.

Personal terms have been agreed and the player will sign a three-year deal, with the option of a further year.

Maitland-Niles may be the last new signing to head to Finch Farm before the deadline, with Jack Grealish and Folarin Balogun currently inside the complex.

Grealish has completed his medical ahead of a loan move back to Hill Dickinson, whereas Balogun will be joining permanently from Monaco for £38.5million.

Why early Maitland-Niles concerns will creep in

Maitland-Niles was clearly never Everton's first-choice right-back target, but has now been made that man after recent developments.

Fulham want to sign a replacement for Tete before letting him join the Blues, and that looks unlikely at this stage of the day.

Alan Myers has reported that this deal will go ahead, while speaking on Sky Sports, and the package that Everton were searching for.

But some fans will be concerned how he was clearly not first choice.
