Dele Alli could be the final signing to come through the doors at Everton despite the transfer window closing, according to Alan Myers.

The 28-year-old midfielder is currently a free agent after his contract expired at Goodison Park earlier this summer, with the club in talks with the player over a new deal [Sky Sports].

It is understood that Lille are also interested in landing Alli on a free transfer, though it remains to be seen what the former Tottenham man's future holds.

When asked if Alli could be the Toffees' final signing this summer, Myers replied via X [31 August]: "Possibly."

There are no doubts over the 28-year-old's abilities on the pitch, just questions over his fitness, having been unable to play a single minute since his loan spell in Besiktas.

Fans would love to see the midfielder return to the form shown during his time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, signing for Spurs after impressing for MK Dons.

But that was several years ago now, and with the player attempting to overcome severe emotional trauma and abuse that he opened up about last year, fans have remained patient with him.

Given that the Toffees have put their all into bringing Alli back to his best, some may feel that he owes the club, especially with Dyche needing more midfielders. Others are not so keen.

After three goals in 15 appearances in Turkey, eventually returning from his loan due to an injury, he has shown that his talent remains despite spending so long on the treatment table.

The Evertonians could use a player with his flair on a free transfer. Goals have been a concern at Goodison Park for several seasons now, and someone of his calibre could certainly help with that.
