Everton could sign Richarlison on loan before the transfer window shuts as Tottenham close in on a deal for Mathys Tel, according to Alan Myers.

The Brazilian has been heavily linked with a return to Goodison Park, having struggled in North London, but it seems a deadline-busting deal would be difficult for the Toffees to work out, even with Tel now deciding on a move to Spurs [Florian Plettenberg].

However, signing the 27-year-old on loan would mean sending Armando Broja back to Chelsea or Jack Harrison back to Leeds United, both of which seem unlikely at this point in the window.

Writing via X [3 February], Myers said: "It would mean Spurs agreeing, with the Tel deal not done yet), and I could only see a loan if at all. That would mean we have to lose either Broja or Harrison - a lot of work."

It would be a hugely emotional return for Richarlison if it were to happen just hours before the deadline, but given the intricacies of a potential deal, it seems unlikely.

The Brazilian has made just 79 appearances since sealing a move to Hotspur Way in June 2022, scoring 18 goals in that time, but he has been completely hindered by injuries.

With 53 goals in 152 appearances for the Toffees, he was a clear fan-favourite on Merseyside and the majority of fans now are likely to welcome him back with open arms.

When Spurs visited Goodison Park just last month, the striker's love for the club was still evident, having taken plenty of pictures with fans and explored the area before kick-off.

A return at some point would not be a total shock, but only if the Toffees were able to get a price-cut deal for him - nothing like the £60million the Lilywhites paid for him in 2022 [BBC Sport].
