Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers has shared an update on the imminency of Everton signing Leeds United star Willy Gnonto.

Writing via his personal Twitter account on Thursday (20 July), Myers noted that Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma is closing in on a loan move to the Toffees.

And the journalist added that Everton are hopeful of bringing in another player before the weekend, but noted that that player was not Leeds ace Gnonto.

“Danjuma to have medical, loan deal agreed (£3.5m) and expected to be done by Saturday, as previously stated, club hopeful of another in before the weekend,” Myers posted on Twitter.

And when asked if that other player is Leeds winger Gnonto, Myers replied: “I don’t believe so.”

Mixed emotions

The latest update regarding Danjuma will have Everton fans very excited, with the Toffees desperately needing to bring in new faces this summer ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.

The Villarreal winger, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Tottenham, can definitely improve the Everton attack.

But another player capable of bringing some much-needed excitement to Sean Dyche’s attacking roster is Leeds star Gnonto.

His potential signature is, however, seemingly not as close as the impending loan deal for Netherlands international Danjuma.

Even if he is a winger, Everton fans will want as many new signings as possible as the upcoming season rapidly approaches.

On the other side of the coin, however, is that Myers has reported that there is another new arrival expected at Goodison Park before the weekend.

It may not be Gnonto, but it should still be a player that can help take the Toffees to another level next season.

As per Sportitalia (19 July), however, the agent of the winger has arrived in the UK to complete his proposed transfer to Everton.
