Atalanta to offer swap deal for exit-linked Everton forward Beto

Published on

Atalanta could potentially offer El Bilal Toure to Everton as part of a swap deal for Beto, according to Matteo Brega.

The journalist reported in the print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (6 August, pg 28) that while Toure may have three years left on his contract, Atalanta may well use the 22-year-old Malian forward as part of a sweetener in this proposed transfer.

It comes after it was reported yesterday that Atalanta were ready to put forward a bid of £17 million for Beto (Tutto Atalanta, 5 August).

If the Italian side were to do something like this, it'd certainly be an interesting development. We all know the two clubs have a decent relationship stemming from the Ben Godfrey deal earlier this summer.

With a deal like this one, you'd have to think Sean Dyche would take it seriously. After all, one of the big concerns for a lot of supporters this season is strength in depth. They aren't necessarily devastated by the possibility of Beto leaving. What will concern them, though, is the talent they have available if the club aren't able to replace them.

It certainly feels as if things are starting to ramp up at Goodison Park. Alas, with Toure having scored just two league goals in 11 appearances last season (FBref), there are far more questions than answers, mainly would he represent a huge upgrade on Beto?
