Calvert-Lewin future in major doubt

According to The Athletic (3 June), the future of the England international is in "major doubt".

In 26 appearances this past season, the 28-year-old managed to find the back of the net on just three occasions.

Calvert-Lewin has even dealt with injury issues at Everton in recent months, limiting his appearances for the club.

Moyes admitted that he would make the decision on whether or not the striker is to stay put on Merseyside beyond the summer.

He did, however, praise his work ethic behind the scenes, as he trained in Germany to keep himself in the best shape.

Everton must let Calvert-Lewin go and recruit a younger and fitter striker

Everton should consider letting Calvert-Lewin go due to his persistent injury issues and inconsistent goal-scoring form, which have hindered the team’s attacking reliability.

Despite his aerial prowess and past contributions, his recent campaigns have been marred by fitness concerns, missing significant games and scoring only 17 goals across the last three Premier League seasons.

His contract expiring adds urgency to the decision, as retaining an injury-prone player on high wages risks squad stagnation.

Recruiting a younger, fitter striker could inject vitality and consistency into Everton’s attack.

These prospects can offer physicality, potential and long-term value, aligning with the club’s new chapter under The Friedkin Group and Moyes’ vision.

Moving on from Calvert-Lewin would free up resources to secure a reliable, dynamic forward to elevate Everton’s ambitions.
