David Moyes given Everton transfer spend update by Friedkins after PSR fiasco

Published on

David Moyes has already been given an update on Everton's transfer spending by the Friedkins in wake of the latest PSR fiasco.

Everton have been ordered to pay Burnley £35million in compensation as the fallout from their 2021-22 Profit and Sustainability Rules breach continues.

The Toffees were docked points, but not in the season the breaches took place.

Had that happened, Burnley would have stayed in the Premier League at Everton's expense

Everton intend to appeal the decision, but as things stand they will need to hand over the massive sum of money.

There were instant fears that could impact Everton's summer transfer spending, but Moyes has allayed those concerns.

David Moyes personally addresses Everton compensation concerns

Moyes has already made clear he wants a number of new signings at Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer.

Everton faded badly in the final stages of last season, meaning they missed out on a place in Europe.

A number of names have already been linked with a move to Merseyside, with Everton needing to spend fairly big if they are to properly strengthen.

And Moyes has provided some positive news to supporters as he has clarified the compensation case will not impact this summer's transfer spending.

"They told me no," he said live on talkSPORT on Thursday. "They told me that it wouldn’t have any effect on it.

"Look, I was aware of this probably four or five weeks ago when it was happening that this would be the case.

"My understanding is that the Friedkins were aware of this when they were buying the club and there was a possibility this could happen.

"So the answer to that is I really hope it has no effect on what we’re going to do in the summer."

The timeframe regarding Everton's appeal is unknown, but it is unlikely to be a swift conclusion given the complex nature of the case.

Everton transfer approach sounds promising

No transfers have been made yet, and likely will not be for a bit longer, but the speculation provides some encouragement.

There is talk of Jack Grealish's loan move being made permanent, while Raoul Bellanova continues to be linked.

Other players in the £15million-plus category have also been linked, so let's just hope there is some truth to the speculation.

It is hard to put a number of exactly how many new signings Everton need, but just one or two will not cut it.

The good news is that Moyes is likely to be unaffected by this latest PSR charge and Everton can carry on as usual for now.
