Ayase Ueda took to the stage against the Netherland having previously been linked with Everton.

The World Cup is a great arena for players to put themselves in the shop window, and after his season with Feyenoord, Ueda may be looking to do the same.

At 27 years old, the Japanense international may only have one major career move left in him.

After spending time in the J-League, Belgian Pro League and now Eredivise, there would be no league bigger than the Premier League on the next step of his journey.

In Japan's 2-2 draw against, Ueda did not standout among the crowd, as he had limited time on the ball.

However, that could ultimately work in Everton's favour in the transfer window.

Why Everton may have been handed favour in Ayase Ueda chase

There are other sides in the Premier League tracking Ueda, such as Leeds United, but the fact the Japan star had a quiet game will be music to Everton official's ears.

The performance from Ueda will likely do little to move his price, but if he had emerged as one of the better performers against a side such as the Netherlands, it would have been the opposite.

Everton will hope that Ueda continues to slip under the radar and no other sides look to pounce on his signature.

The Japan forward scored 25 goals in 31 league appearances last season for the Rotterdam-based outfit.

Could Feyenoord's managerial situation complicate a move for Ueda?

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is reportedly set to take charge of Feyenoord heading into next season.

While van Bronckhorst has never managed Ueda, and will likely assess his whole squad heading into the campaign, there is another potential complication.

Sipke Hulshoff is set to be the Dutch manager's assistant, the former Liverpool coach also undertook that role at Feyenoord under Arne Slot.

Hulshoff was at Feyenoord in the transfer window in which Feyenoord purchased Ueda from Cercle Brugge.

The 51-year-old could make a push to keep the Japanese forward, in which he was part of the coaching staff that signed him.

However, on the opposite side, that season was Ueda's worst in the Feyenoord shirt, scoring just five goals in all competitions.

So, with the return of Hulshoff, he may look to move his career on, and avoid a repeat of his 2023-2024 campaign.
