Everton bid for Man United striker Joshua Zirkzee as separate deal still on

Everton have made an approach for Manchester United's Joshua Zirkzee.

David Moyes is looking for attacking reinforcements in the late stages of the window.

It looked like Folarin Balogun would be the new striker through the Finch Farm doors.

However, that may not be the case after reports emerged that he had failed a medical with the Blues.

A new update has been shared, with the potential for Zirkzee to join the Toffees.

What is the latest on Everton's striker search?

Zirkzee is understood to be a contingency plan, incase the Balogun deal falls apart.

Sky Sports reporter Alan Myers shared the latest on Tuesday evening, suggesting that the Monaco forward's deal is still being worked on.

His report also states that the Blues have also made a bid for the Old Trafford star.

That would suggest that the Merseysiders are concerned about the potential of a Balogun move not happening.

If it was definitely going through, they would not need to launch a last-minute approach for a different target.

David Moyes will not be worried now after Zirkzee bid

It was looking as though the Blues would be left short, with just Thierno Barry as their only striker if the Balogun deal fell through.

However, Myers' latest update suggests that is not happening, and even if it does, Zirkzee is the back up option.

It looks like no matter what, the L3 outfit will get a forward through the door, and not leave Barry with the burden of coming up with all the goals.

Zirkzee has notched nine goals and four assists in 75 matches for the Red Devils since moving from Bologna.

Meanwhile, Balogun has scored 31 goals and has 13 assists in 91 matches for the Ligue 1 side.

The latter looks like the better option for the Blues, but at this point, Moyes will surely take anyone as long as there is an extra body in the squad.
