Everton have received a boost in their chase for Karl Etta Eyong, as the Levante forward prioritises a move to the Premier League.

The Toffees are set on signing a new number nine this summer, as Eyong remains on their list of targets.

David Moyes wants someone who can offer something different to Beto and Thierno Barry, with the pair's futures at Hill Dickinson uncertain.

Everton suffered from not having a consistent goal scorer last season, and it could be argued that it was a main reason for them missing out on Europe.

The Friedkin Group are said to be prepared to back Moyes this summer, and will look to rectify an overall poor window this time last year.

Now, Everton have made contact with Levante over a possible deal for Eyong.

Levante set Karl Etta Eyong asking price after Everton's enquiry

According to Ben Jacobs on X this Thursday, Everton have made an enquiry over the possibility of signing Eyong.

The La Liga side are said to want a minimum of £25million, as they may also push to sell him for £30m.

Moyes' side may need to move soon, though, as Ipswich Town have now opened talks to sign Eyong.

However, Everton can take encouragement in the fact that the 22-year-old's priority is to move to the Premier League.

Should the Toffees make their move, they may emerge as a more appealing destination for the player, rather than joining a newly-promoted Premier League side.

Eyong registered 11 goals and assists in La Liga for Levante and Villarreal combined last season, and could move on less than one year after making the switch to the former.

Thierno Barry warning present for Eyong deal

Everton bought a young striker from Villarreal last summer, in Barry, for a reported £25m.

Though Eyong doesn't play for the Yellow Submarine anymore, the similarities between his possible move to Hill Dickinson and Barry's are scarily close.

The Frenchman came to Merseyside as a young forward from Spain trying to prove himself, and it's yet to be a success story.

Everton could be headed down a similar path if they sign Eyong, though the Cameroonian seems to only make Levante play better when he features.
