Luca Davis has completed a loan move to Morecambe from Everton on Thursday.

Out-of-window moves can be completed outside of the EFL, with the Shrimps in National League North.

Having signed his first professional contract at Hill Dickinson Stadium in summer 2025, it's a first loan move away from the Toffees and David Moyes.

Davis is a defender by trade, and can play both centrally and on the right.

Now 20-years-old, he will play at the Halo Aerospace Stadium until January 2027 in the initial loan agreement.

So, what has he had to say about it?

Having played both Under-21 and 18s football for the Toffees, it's been a seven-year journey in blue.

Davis has experience at Premier League 2 level, as well as the National League Cup and Premier League International Cup.

But, it's never gone further.

Now, he'll get a first taste of real senior football with Morecambe, and it's safe to say he's very excited.

Speaking via the Lancaster Guardian, he said: "I’m over the moon to join such a massive club. I was attracted by Morecambe’s style of play and the size of the club.

"I’m excited to make a difference on the pitch and help get the Shrimps back to where they belong."

Why was Luca Davis needed in SOS call?

Especially at non-league level, injuries are a common feature.

With fixtures coming thick and fast, some players are part time and that can catch up with them.

Will Smith and Liam Hogan are both set for spells on the sidelines with the Shrimps, so defensive depth was desperately needed.

Especially with Morecambe set for FA Cup duty next.

Lewis Baines is said to be the only fit central defender available for that tie against Rushden & Diamonds, so Davis should be thrown straight in.

With this being the fourth round of qualifying, another victory sees Morecambe into the first round proper.

Starting in November, it's a great incentive for the players, but also clubs who need that added financial boost.

No pressure then, as Davis prepares to make his official debut.

He'll be looking to follow in the footsteps he's watched growing up at Everton, with none other than Seamus Coleman probably a great role model.

Fingers crossed this goes well.
