Everton look set to lose highly-rated talent Demi Akarakiri after failing to tie him down to professional terms.

A contract offer was on the table for the former Arsenal academy prospect, who joined Everton in 2024.

However, after just a couple of years, he looks set to pursue his footballing career away from England.

Amid their efforts to keep Akarakiri, David Moyes has called him up to train with the first team at various points during the last season.

But that has not proved enough to convince the midfielder that his future lay in L3.

Now, with the transfer window open, he is set to seal a move to Italy.

When could Demi Akarakiri's Everton exit be confirmed?

Akarakiri's departure will likely be confirmed in the upcoming days as his move is quite advanced.

With his scholarship deal expiring, he was free to talk to other clubs with Serie A's Cagliari winning the race.

According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the move is all but confirmed with his medical set to take place on Thursday.

Once completed, it will only be a matter of time before confirmation is given over his exit.

With Akarakiri being rated so highly, with Di Marzio stating he "has been compared to Pogba," this will likely be an outcome that the Merseyside club live to regret in the coming years.

And it is also a warning sign for Everton over any of the rest of their potential starlets.

Which contract offers should Everton focus on now?

After learning their lesson from the situation involving Akarakiri, the Toffees will know they cannot afford to wait to hand out contract offers.

Ultimately, the decision to wait until the final few months of Akarakiri's deal has backfired.

Now, Everton must put focus towards keeping fellow talent star Braiden Graham on side at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Graham has already earned a senior Northern Ireland call-up back in the June international friendlies but has yet to make an appearance.

Moving forward, it will only be a matter of time before making his debut in the world of professional football.

However, Graham does only have one year left on his current deal in L3, so if he does not sign another contract, he could leave on a free next summer.

It is a situation that must be avoided at all costs.
