Everton figures sent to watch Leicester City's Louis Page - could he be David Moyes' next gem?

Everton are one of a number of clubs keeping an eye on Leicester City midfielder Louis Page.

The 18-year-old has been impressing for the Foxes over the last year and looked to be nearing a move to Manchester United just a few weeks ago.

However, that transfer in the summer window did not materialise with the Toffees in position to potentially swoop in now.

The Blues have been no stranger to dipping into the Championship and EFL market over the years, with Hayden Hackney the latest through the door.

Page's emergence has naturally attracted attention from clubs in the top flight.

And Everton have seemingly been monitoring Page quite closely after what has now come out.

Everton's interest in Page is not merely from afar as the Toffees have recently watched him up close.

According to the print edition of Leicester Mercury on Wednesday, Everton sent scouts to wage Page over the weekend as the Foxes took on Stockport.

The Toffees were not the only ones there with that idea, though, as scouts from Man United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Sunderland were present as well.

Page certainly put on a show, as he registered two official assists in the 4-3 win for Leicester City.

And he was also the key man for a third goal, even if it won't be declared as an assist for the midfielder.

Whether or not Everton can win the race for Page remains to be seen. Particularly with Manchester United still keen on a move.

Of course, with the level of interest in Page, securing his transfer will not be easy.

However, if he is still available by next summer's window, and Everton have qualified for Europe, that could help the Blues' case.

Everton could present their project as one that has an easier pathway, with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool already having many experienced and more senior midfielders.

Harrison Armstrong can be the anectdotal evidence that Everton need in order to convince Page he will get his chance at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

This is certainly a possible transfer to keep an eye on, and Everton will likely continue to scout him in person throughout the current season.
