Everton, along with Leeds United, Wolves and Fulham, have been linked with West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal.

The Czech Republic international has decided to leave the Hammers this summer, with his deal at the London Stadium expiring.

David Moyes has worked with him for a few years back when he was in charge of West Ham.

Premier League stay a priority for Coufal this summer

According to Caught Offside (12 June), staying in the Premier League is a priority for the right-back this summer.

While the Toffees have been linked with the 32-year-old, they are yet to make contact to sign him.

It's understood that Coufal could prefer a move to Everton, given his past working relationship with Moyes.

The reunion has been viewed as mutually beneficial, as the Scotsman is braced for a busy transfer window at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton must look at other alternatives to Coufal

While Everton hold a significant advantage to sign Coufal as he's likely to fancy a reunion with Moyes, they need to look elsewhere for a solid right-back.

His profile also doesn’t align with their need for dynamic, long-term solutions at right-back.

At 32, Coufal’s 180 appearances for West Ham yielded 20 assists but no goals, reflecting limited attacking output for a modern full-back.

His defensive solidity is notable, but his age and declining pace don’t suit Moyes' system, which demands versatility and stamina.

Coufal’s contract expiring might suggest a bargain, but his performances indicate consistency rather than elite quality.

Everton’s financial constraints require investments in younger, more dynamic players or versatile talents who can elevate their Premier League survival bid.

With younger and higher-potential options available, Everton can secure a higher-calibre right-back to bolster their squad.
