Newcastle United ace Yankuba Minteh is still keen on an Everton move this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The journalist took to X on 28 June and stated that the winger sees a move to the Toffees as a "priority".

That is, despite Olympique Lyon making the best proposal out of the interested parties.

His situation is also "one to watch" over the next 48 hours as the Magpies look to sell the youngster to help in their quest to comply with the Premier League's financial rules.

How much would Everton need to make a deal for Yankuba Minteh viable

Across the summer window thus far, Minteh has been at the centre of plenty of rumours.

The winger had a solid season representing Feyenoord last term and managed to make a total of 17 goal contributions in just 37 games.

Although the Gambian attacker is keen on a move to Merseyside, a deal is likely far from close as yet due to the difference in values from both the Magpies and Sean Dyche's team.

Just a couple of days ago it felt as if a move for Minteh was off the cards as the Toffees failed to meet the asking price that Newcastle desired for their starlet [FootballTransfers, 25 June].

Lyon managed to generate a fee in the region of £33.8million [Gianluca Di Marzio, 26 June], which is a large sum of money, especially considering the highest level the youngster has played is the Eredivisie.

Although the youngster's future is certainly bright, it seems like a large risk for the Toffees to invest over £30m in a player who may not be quite at a top-flight level just yet.
