Everton will move to sign a new defender during the summer transfer window, according to Alan Myers.

The journalist responded to fans on X, saying that Sean Dyche will move for a replacement for Ben Godfrey, who is on his way out.

The Englishman has landed in Italy ahead of his move to Atalanta, with his medical and then personal terms to be discussed before it's all confirmed [Di Marzio, 28 June].

Which defenders could Everton look at bringing in over summer?

As with most Premier League clubs this season, a lot of chopping and changing has occurred at Everton thus far.

The likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Amadou Onana have both been heavily linked with moves away from Goodison Park this summer.

In addition to departures, there have also been some incoming, namely, Jack Harrison.

Granted, it's only a season-long loan again, however, it shows that Dyche means business this term.

Another player the Toffees have been linked with following the rumours of defensive departures from Goodison Park is Jacob Greaves.

Steve Bruce shared his thoughts on a move to Merseyside for the Hull defender and claimed it would take north of £20m for the Toffees to acquire his services.

This may seem steep for a Championship defender - but the fact that Greaves played 43 second-tier games last season, shows he's ready for the step-up.

Once the exit of Godfrey has been made official, it wouldn't come as a surprise to many to see the interest intensify in the Hull star
