Why Folarin Balogun's move to Everton could be off
Iliman Ndiaye's exit could affect the Blues' move for Balogun.
A report from L'Equipe on Tuesday claims that the 25-year-old could stay in Monaco.
It states that there has been a "twist" in the "saga", and Ndiaye's move to City is vital.
Their sources believe that Everton need to finalise his exit by the time the deadline comes, but that deal has been delayed and there is now a doubt over Balogun's own move.
The Blues have to push to seal both deals, as they can't afford to not get the American through the door.
Why Everton need Balogun desperately
If the L3 outfit fail to get Balogun's signature sorted before the deadline it would be a horror show for Everton.
They have already allowed Beto to leave based on the fact that they were getting the World Cup star.
If they did not get him, it would leave just Thierno Barry as the only recognised senior striker in the squad.
While he has had a solid start to the season, with four goals in three matches, the Bournemouth draw last time out proved why he needs legitimate competition.
He can't be the only number nine at the club, as that is far too much pressure to put on his shoulders, and the lack of another option would come back to haunt the Blues.
Hopefully the Merseysiders can get Balogun over the line and sort Ndiaye's exit as soon as possible to avoid the unthinkable.
