Everton on alert as Jonathan David future 'unchanged' despite World Cup heroics - View
Everton's hunt for a striker will likely take plenty of twists, but they must remain alert in the race for Jonathan David.
The Canadian World Cup hero, who struck a hattrick for the Canucks against Qatar, has not had the best of times at Juventus.
This has led to the Old Lady considering the striker as surplus to requirements.
At 26 years old, David has plenty of time left at the top, and his performance against Qatar certainly proved it.
His current employers Juventus would certainly be paying attention, and their social media channels did congratulate David.
However, for Everton, there is still hope of a move amid the Turin's club response.
Why Everton must be on alert for Jonathan David
Among Everton's striker shortlist, at least according to reports, David is the highest-profile name there.
If he is a player that David Moyes truly wants at Hill Dickinson Stadium, the three goals against Qatar would certainly have piqued attention.
David's stock is now much higher, and that could set the sights of other European club's onto the Canadian international in the transfer window.
However, at Juventus, while the hattrick could change things for other interested parties, they are staunchly keeping their stance.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the future of David "remains unchanged" with the Serie A club still expecting him to be sold.
Along with his goals, and Juventus' hardline stance, Everton must remain ready to make their move.
David was not the only Juventus player linked with the Toffees over the last few months.
Federico Gatti is another Serie A star rumoured to be of interest, so perhaps a double deal could be struck.
How much would David cost Everton?
When it comes to signing David, Everton do know how much it would cost to bring the Canadian to L3.
According to the same report as mentioned before, £26million is the fee the Old Lady are expecting to bring in.
Considering this is below the price tag paid for Thierno Barry, it is not an extortionate fee for the Blues to pay for a top five league striker.
However, Everton do face plenty of competition with it being said both Tottenham and Lyon are keeping watch of the situation as well.
