Everton on red alert as 'best offer' not enough for Blackburn to keep Balazs Toth
Everton were strongly linked with a move for Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Balazs Toth this summer.
The Toffees didn't end up signing a new shot-stopper, with David Moyes sticking with the options he's got.
Jordan Pickford remains the undisputed number one at Hill Dickinson Stadium, but the backup positions aren't set in stone.
Mark Travers has been the number two, but Tom King has also featured on the bench for numerous games this season.
With both keepers potentially looking to move on in search of a starting role elsewhere soon enough, Everton may be in the market next summer.
That could see them re-explore a possible move for Toth, and they'll only be more encouraged to do so now.
What does Balazs Toth want to do regarding his Blackburn future?
Goodison News covered reports detailing Everton's supposed interest in Toth over the summer.
The 29-year-old has proven himself to be a quality goalkeeper at Championship level with Blackburn.
However, Alan Nixon reports via Patreon on Sunday that Blackburn are currently failing in their attempts to tie him to a new contract.
Nixon states that Blackburn want him to extend his deal long-term before his current deal expires at the end of the season.
But Toth is reported to be "stalling" over signing fresh terms at Ewood Park, and is said to be eyeing up a big move next summer.
Nixon claims that even Rovers' "best offer" won't turn Toth's head.
So, how good has Toth been for Blackburn this season, and do his numbers suggest he'd be a quality addition for Everton?
How many clean sheets has Toth kept in 2026-27 so far?
Despite his reported desire to explore a move away from Blackburn, Toth has remained Rovers' starting goalkeeper this season.
The Hungarian international has started all eight of his Championship appearances, the most recent of which came against West Brom on Saturday.
He's conceded 12 goals and kept just the one clean sheet from those outings though, and has failed to save any of the three penalties he's faced.
Per FotMob, he's registered a save percentage of 64.7 per cent in the league this term, whilst making 22 total saves.
Toth has prevented 0.75 goals and made zero errors leading to goals, but also has a 47.8 per cent pass success rate, which is one of the lowest in the division.
Overall then, Toth's numbers don't scream as though he'd be much better a back-up option than the one Everton currently have in Travers.
