Everton submit 'concrete offer' for Christian Kofane as contract details come to light
Everton have taken the next step in their chase for Bayer Leverkusen's Christian Kofane.
The striker was first said to be on the Toffees' radar last month, as his agent Eric Depolo revealed.
David Moyes is said to be keen on signing another striker, but this would likely mean one of Thierno Barry or Beto would leave.
One struggle the Blues had last season was finding a consistent goalscorer, so it's no surprise to see them looking at Kofane.
The 19-year-old has multiple suitors, with Barcelona, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and other Premier League clubs all interested.
However, Everton have moved ahead of the pack, as they've now submitted an offer for Kofane.
Details of Everton's offer for Christian Kofane
Depolo admitted Everton's interest in Kofane in June, but there were no official reports that followed that up.
Agents are always trying to get their players the best possible move these days; however, it seems the Blues are keen on the Cameroon international after all.
According to Africa Foot, Everton have made a "concrete offer" to Bayer Leverkusen for Kofane.
The Toffees have taken the first steps out of other interested clubs to make a move for the centre-forward, who reportedly earns £575,000-per-year, which equates to just under £11k-per-week.
Bayer Leverkusen will need to decide what they want to do with Kofane, with Everton serious about getting his signature.
But the Toffees will want to make sure they don't overspend.
How much is Kofane valued at?
It has already been reported locally that a new striker arrival would likely see Moyes let another forward go.
However, it's not clear who Everton would prefer to leave out of the pair.
Speaking to Daily Arsenal, Kofane's agent, Depolo, already confirmed that Everton were one of the clubs tracking his client.
His agent suggested the player is worth €100m (£87m), a fee that would surely be too steep for the Friedkin Group to pay.
Valuations elsewhere suggest the striker isn't worth as much as that, but Everton would most likely still have to do some negotiating to get the best deal possible.
As seen with the move for Hayden Hackney, the Blues could test the waters with Kofane first and try to reach a compromise with Bayer Leverkusen.
