Long-term Everton target Florentino Luis is tempted to quit Benfica, according to Jornal De Noticias.

The Portuguese newspaper reported in its weekend print edition, Ataque, (page 1, 13 April) that Luis, who is contracted to Benfica until 2027, might be keen on a change of scenery this summer.

AC Milan, Lyon and Aston Villa are all clubs who have been credited with an interest in the midfielder, with a previous asking price of £34million having been quoted.

Could Everton approach Benfica to sign Florentino Luis this summer?

Luis has regained his place in the Benfica team in recent weeks, having largely been a rotational player earlier during the campaign.

Having come through the academy at his current club, a new experience overseas might tempt Luis, with Premier League football likely to be particularly enticing.

Provided the Toffees maintain their top-flight status, they could look to once again explore a deal for Luis.

The current financial struggles at Goodison Park will make incoming business difficult and could force the club to sell some of their key players.

Should some big-name midfielders move on from Merseyside in an attempt to balance the books, Luis could be the perfect replacement, provided a reduced fee can be agreed between Everton and Benfica.

While the likelihood of any such agreement is not yet clear, Luis' desire to potentially leave Portugal could make negotiations easier for Sean Dyche's side ahead of the summer transfer window opening.
