Everton have confirmed the loan exit of young midfielder Sean McAllister to Inverness Caledonian Thistle for the remainder of the season.

The Toffees announced the news on their club website on Thursday (1 February), with the 21-year-old set to link up with Duncan Ferguson.

McAllister has featured in senior Everton squads previously, but he has yet to make his debut at first-team level.

Good move

McAllister has scored five goals in his past six matches for the Under-21s side, so he is surely not too far off the first-team picture at Goodison.

As a central midfielder who knows how to find the net, while also boasting leadership qualities having captained the side, he looks a real gem.

As strange as it is to say, 21 can no longer be considered overly young in this day and age so McAllister really needs some senior action.

Under Everton great Ferguson north of the border, he will have an opportunity to do exactly that in the Scottish Championship.

McAllister is technically due to see his latest contract expire in the summer, but it may well be that fresh terms have been discussed already.

It may well be a case of now or never for the Northern Irishman, so he must ensure he takes this opportunity with both hands.
