Everton need to step up their recruitment efforts in the summer transfer window, after suffering yet more frustration.

Thierno Barry is the only senior outfield player to join Everton this summer, and there are plenty of gaps that need filling in the squad.

Everton need to strengthen in midfield and attacking areas, but have struggled to lure some key targets to the club.

Goodison News has now provided a round-up of the latest transfer updates on Merseyside.

Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz is keen on a return to the Premier League, and Everton are one of the clubs interested in him.

Luiz is now so keen on an exit that he has refused to turn up for training, but he has put any move to Everton on hold as he assesses his options.

Everton now have to decide whether to keep pursuing the Brazilian, with a total price tag set at around £ £34million, or move on to other targets.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin left Everton at the end of last season, but is still a free agent and is yet to find a new team.

AC Milan reportedly want the striker but have been put off by his wage demands, as he wants them to match the £100,000 per week salary he was on at Goodison Park.

Calvert-Lewin's future is unclear, but he will likely have to drop his wage demands if he is to secure a good move elsewhere.

Everton have now confirmed that goalkeeper Fraser Barnsley has signed a new contract to keep him at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Barnsley has impressed in the Under-21s, and his new deal will run until 2027, with an official club announcement confirming the deal on Friday afternoon.

Everton were linked with Atletico Madrid star Samuel Lino, but will not be signing the Brazilian this summer.

Lino has now agreed to join Flamengo in his native country, and a deal is expected to be confirmed within the coming days.
