Everton transfer years in making back on amid Edon Zhegrova update

Published on

Everton fans can be forgiven for a familiar feeling as Juventus attacker Edon Zhegrova appears to be back on the transfer radar.

The Toffees can officially sign and sell players from Monday as the transfer window is now open for business.

A number of names have already been linked with a switch to Hill Dickinson Stadium over the past few weeks.

And a move for Zhegrova is now seemingly back on the agenda amid a transfer update out of Italy.

If it is a name that sounds familiar, there is a clear reason behind that.

Everton to finally pull trigger on Edon Zhegrova transfer?

Zhegrova has been at Juventus for less than a year, having joined amid supposed interest from Everton last summer.

The recently-turned 27-year-old had also been touted as a target for Everton the previous winter, and indeed a year prior when at Lille.

Nothing has ever come of that interest, but Tutto Juve journalist Mirko Di Natale reported via X on Monday that Everton are again showing an interest.

Ligue 1 pair Monaco and Lens are also said to be monitoring Zhegrova's situation at Juve, as are Turkish duo Trabzonspor and Besiktas.

The Kosovo international struggled in his first season in Turin, failing to start a single Serie A game, explaining the fresh exit links.

Likely Zhegrova fee is already known

If Everton were indeed in for Zhegrova a year ago, they would have been disappointed to see Juve snap him up for a small fee of around £13.5million.

While the attacking midfielder may not have played much over the past 12 months, Juve are unlikely to see for too much lower than that sum.

It may well be that the Italian heavyweights consider a bid of that same amount enough as they break even on a deal that has not worked.

That leads to the question of why Everton would want Juve's scraps, but Zhegrova proved himself previously at Lille and is clearly a talent.

Rather than ponder a move for yet another window, Everton should simply make their move this time around.
