Everton want Kai Hutchinson deal as Dundee United teen's stance shared
Everton want to sign Kai Hutchinson from Dundee United.
The 16-year-old has been making waves in the Tannadice side's academy and has been on the Blues' radar for a while.
A report from the Daily Record on 5 June claims that David Moyes' side are keen on a move for the Scottish youngster.
It states that they face competition from Wolves, and that the Scottish Premiership side have offered him a professional contract.
The Friedkin Group have taken a serious approach to rebuilding the Toffees' academy, and this seems like the natural step forward.
What is Kai Hutchinson's position on Everton switch?
The report claims that the player is considering his options, with no decision made at the moment.
It states that if he does move to the Premier League or Championship sides, then the SPFL club would be due compensation.
If they believe that he is that good, though, it will be fully worth whatever that fee turns out to be.
Why Hutchinson may be cautious about Everton move
Usually, a move to the Blues would be considered a huge step up from a club like the Tangerines.
However, the Scotland Under-15 international may be hesitant to make the switch to Merseyside.
Moyes has not proven that he is willing to put his faith in youth, which may leave the youngster concerned about a pathway to the first-team.
Academy talents rarely feature under the Scotsman, and even established senior young players like Tyler Dibling and Tyrique George struggled for gametime last season.
That does not bode well for Hutchinson, if he joins the Blues, and that may explain why he is yet to make a decision on his future.
He may well want assurances that there is a way to make it into the first-team picture in the future, and the Toffees may not be able to give him those.
The money on offer and the potential to play for a club with the history of Everton could prove tempting, but ultimately footballers want to play and rise up the ranks.
If that is not a clear option, then he would be wise to move elsewhere or stick with the Scottish outfit for now, rather than joining the L3 side.
