Everton defender Ed Jones played 45 minutes for West Brom under-21s while on trial ahead of a possible move away from Goodison Park, according to the Express & Star.

The newspaper shared via its website on 29 April that Jones was one of two trialists in Albion's squad for the game, with Wolves defender Mo Diomande replacing him for the second half.

Jones' contract at Goodison Park is set to expire this summer, opening the door for an exit, with the trial at West Brom the first step towards finding a new club.

Everton youngster could quit Goodison Park this summer

With the season rapidly approaching its end, young players across the country will be considering their futures, with contracts set to expire as clubs make final decisions about who to retain and who to release ahead of the new season.

It appears based on his trial for West Brom, Jones will be one to depart Finch Farm this summer, with the 19-year-old now assessing his options ahead of the exit, and a move to a West Brom side fighting for promotion could be a good deal for him.

It is also likely that Everton would receive some form of compensation if he makes the switch, with the defender having signed his first professional deal with the club in July 2023 [official club website], having joined the club aged ten.

Jones has made ten appearances in the Premier League 2 this season, and with his deal now set to expire, will likely be looking for an increase in playing time for his new club's under-21 side after a disappointing season.
