Everton scouted Strasbourg's Guela Doue ahead of the January transfer window, but stupidly went against signing the Ivorian.

David Moyes is once again after a right-back this summer, and Doue could have solved his key issue many months ago.

Though the Friedkin Group are trying to move in the right direction, the club's transfer decisions keep backfiring, whether that be players they sign or don't.

Doue is the brother of the PSG sensation, Desire, and should have known the quality that runs in the family genes.

Instead, Everton have been left to rue their transfer incompetence once more, after the Ligue 1 star's latest performance on an international stage.

Guela Doue shines against France, Everton won't believe it

Everton already have a long list of right-back options they could go for in the summer, but they have already scouted the best of the lot and passed up the opportunity of signing him.

The reason for the Toffees going against bringing him to Hill Dickinson was down to people at the club preferring to sign someone with more Premier League experience.

How they have messed up, as Doue shone for Ivory Coast in a 2-1 win against France on Thursday.

The 23-year-old grabbed a goal and an assist in the game to stun Didier Deschamps' side, showing the Toffees what they missed out on once again.

But the reality is that this is a wider issue at Everton. The club keep making the wrong decisions, and whoever they bring in as the right-back now will rightly come under the microscope.

Which right-backs do Everton want?

Doue wasn't the only full-back they missed out on in the January window, with Bologna's Emil Holm choosing to go to Juventus amid interest from the Toffees.

However, the Swede is set for a return to his parent club and looks likely to be placed on the transfer market, with Everton still interested,

The Blues also have Arsenal's Ben White on their transfer list, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka the latest name to be linked with a move to Hill Dickinson.

Moyes could reunite with the West Ham star for £10million, but his ceiling is nothing compared to what Doue could have done for Everton.
