Everything Everton fans need to know as Rocco Lambert signs first professional contract
Rocco Lambert has committed his immediate future to Everton.
The Blues confirmed on Thursday that the Under-18's right-back has signed his first professional contract.
It is the latest step in a series of academy moves that the Friedkin Group hope will bring it up to speed.
Now, attention turns to keeping their best players and making sure that there is a pathway for them to reach the senior side.
We look at what Blues supporters need to know after Lambert's latest milestone.
How long is Rocco Lambert's first professional Everton contract?
Lambert has committed to David Moyes' side for the upcoming season, but that is it.
He has signed a one-year deal that is set to run until the end of the 2026-27 campaign.
That will give him the chance to assess the situation next summer, and decide if he wants to stick around or try his luck somewhere else.
That could prove to be a mistake on the club's part if he sees his future elsewhere and goes on to star.
Who is Everton talent Lambert?
Lambert has been with the Toffees' academy since the Under-14 level.
He has made 33 appearances for the Under-18's and has notched five goals and one assist from the backline.
He is set to move up to the Under-21's for the new season, which will be led by Dave Hughes, as a part of the new look coaching staff.
What has he said about his new deal?
Lambert has opened up about signing professional terms with the L3 club.
He has revealed that he is excited to kick on and test himself at the new level for the upcoming campaign.
Speaking to the club's official website, he said: “It's a moment I've dreamed of since I was a kid.
“For me and everyone around me – my family, friends – we’re all buzzing.
"They're proud of me and I'm proud of myself. I've had up and downs, I've had injuries as well, but (I'm) just trying to overcome that.
“I've enjoyed my time at Everton a lot.”
What is next for the youngster?
The young defender will fancy his chance of making the first-team squad if he can make the step up into Hughes' plans.
The Blues have a problem in his position, currently starting centre-back Jake O'Brien there, ahead of Nathan Patterson.
They are yet to sign a new option in the position, and have lost Seamus Coleman, so they need depth.
Lambert could be the chosen one to provide it, if they can't bring someone through the door before the season begins.
