Barcelona star Vitor Roque has been approached by Sporting CP with Everton yet to make a bid, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer journalist posted on X [14 August] to report that Portuguese giants Sporting have approached Barca for Roque, with the Toffees having not yet plotted their next move.

It was reported via Catalunya [14 August] that Sean Dyche's side had made an approach for the young forward, but Romano says no formal offer has landed in the Barca boardroom.

Romano shared: "Sporting have approached Barça for Vitor Roque as he’s among targets for the final two weeks.

"Roque, considering options as Everton never sent any formal bid to Barcelona so far."

Everton yet to bid for Roque

Everton must act now if they are to hold out any further hope of landing Vitor Roque.

The Toffees may have to pay up to £29.5m to secure the services of the promising talent [Sport, 14 August], who has scored twice in 14 La Liga appearances for Barca's first team.

After flying out the blocks in his fledgling professional career in Brazil, Barcelona wasted no time in recruiting Roque for the club's first-team squad, particularly with an eye for following in the footsteps of Neymar.

Everton are uncertain of their forward options come the conclusion of the transfer window, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin strongly linked with a move away, as well as Beto.

A departure for Calvert-Lewin could clear the way for a formal offer for Roque, or this could happen vice-versa.

But they must beat off serious European competition if they are to get their target.
