And now Arsenal appear to be accepting that reality amid their now changing stance on the striker.

They state that "Everton have a long-standing interest in Jesus, but have not yet come forward with an offer" and now Arsenal have changed their demands.

Previously, the Gunners were looking to bring in £30million in order to allow the Brazilian to leave.

However, the report now shares he could be signed for as much as £10m cheaper.

The Premier League winners would now accept a fee in the region of £20m and £25m.

Arsenal are hoping the reduction will entice interested parties to make their move for the 29-year-old and that could include Everton.

Can Everton afford to take risk on Jesus?

In truth, Jesus may be the most proven striker that has been linked with Everton, and would improve on their current options.

There is no doubt that Jesus is a top-level Premier League forward, but currently, his fitness cannot be trusted.

Everton have been waiting to land a top striker since Romelu Lukaku departed Goodison Park for Manchester United.

They simply cannot afford to take punts on strikers that have proven to be unreliable over a long-term scale.

And Jesus has failed to be anything other than unreliable in recent history.
