Harrison Armstrong enjoyed his breakthrough year at Everton last season in the Premier League.

Starting on loan with Preston North End in the Championship, David Moyes would recall the midfielder.

Just initially covering an injury crisis, the thought was that Armstrong would return to Preston to finish the season off on loan.

Instead, Armstrong would stay on Merseyside and be used frequently at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Despite that, there has been very little transfer activity from the Toffees so far to prevent a crisis like last season.

Armstrong is sticking around again, but he has been keeping track of transfers very close to home.

Liverpool transfer catches the eye at Everton

At one side of Stanley Park, Liverpool are getting to work early.

Andoni Iraola has been officially appointed to replace Arne Slot, and he is being backed heavily.

That will start with the signing of Victor Munoz from Osasuna, a rising Spanish winger who looked set for Newcastle.

Everton fans will be shaking their heads, wondering when it will be them who can be proactive in the transfer window.

Carter Pinnington is one who will be leaving Anfield, and has joined West Brom in the Championship.

Armstrong was quick to respond with a message of his own on Instagram, sending his best wishes.

"My brother," he wrote, with a red heart.

Harrison Armstrong needs another loan and Everton must be prepared to sanction it

Could Harrison Armstrong still leave Everton?

It certainly is a possibility.

The main reason for that is because Moyes and the Toffees are looking at other midfielders to sign.

Hayden Hackney is a prime target, with bids already sent to Middlesbrough to try and win the race for their captain.

With Idrissa Gueye also in talks to extend his contract, he would join James Garner and Merlin Rohl as other options in midfield.

That's before you even consider Tim Iroegbunam as well, although he has been consistently linked with an exit, too.

Armstrong has a very bright future at Everton, and unlike Pinnington and Liverpool, a loan move is certainly more likely than a permanent exit.

Time will tell, but there is a new era coming for the Everton midfield.
