How Nottingham Forest can kick Everton's transfer window into gear as Beto deal eyed

Everton's transfer window has been slow but Nottingham Forest's interest in Beto could kickstart it again.

Hayden Hackney remains the sole new addition for the Blues, with Tyrique George and Merlin Rohl simply returning loan stars now permanently in L3.

The centre-forward department has long been a recurring issue for the Blues over the years, and they have never really replaced Romelu Lukaku up top.

Players such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin have put in shifts up front, while others such as Richarlison attained cult hero status.

But the presence of a consistent true goalscorer that can take the Toffees to the next level has yet to be found for quite some time.

Now, one of their current strikers Beto could be heading out the door, and that would mean Everton have to kick into gear.

What has been said about Nottingham Forest's interest in Beto?

Beto is by no means a terrible striker. At Everton, his minutes have been shared and rotated with Thierno Barry.

Despite that, he did manage to net nine Premier League goals in the 2025-2026 season.

But Moyes will know full well that an upgrade in that area could be required.

Now, according to the Daily Mail on Saturday, Nottingham Forest are considering making a move for Beto.

With Oliver Glasner now at the helm, and his European success with Crystal Palace over the years, Forest will undoubtedly be battling Everton for the same places in the Premier League.

Selling to a rival would not be ideal, but if the Guinean-Bissau star is sold, Everton would be forced to act in the market.

And that may be a positive.

What has David Moyes said about Beto previously

Moyes' stance on Beto has been mixed over the last year.

After facing Glasner's Crystal Palace towards the end of last season, the Scotsman admitted that Beto was "limited in other aspects" when praising his work rate, as per BBC Sport.

And a few months prior to that 2-2 draw at Selhurst Park, he stated that Beto was an "incredibly humble" player who puts plenty of work into his game.

Nonetheless, Everton could do with a more all-action forward and while Moyes may appreciate Beto's qualities, his sale would leave the Toffees short, and a centre-forward would move up the list of priorities.
