Seamus Coleman has given an insight into his future plans after his Everton exit.

The Irishman departed the Blues after 17 years when his contract expired earlier this summer.

He was offered a backroom position at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but feels like he still has something to offer.

Therefore he rejected the chance to join the coaching team and let his deal expire after a storied career on Merseyside.

The Toffees legend is yet to find a new club since his departure from David Moyes' side, revealing that he turned down Sheffield United.

Gary Neville posed a cheeky question about a potential next destination and Coleman's reaction was telling.

Former Manchester United legend Neville is a co-owner in League Two side Salford City.

He asked a cheeky question, whether Coleman would join a team in the lower tiers of the Football League.

That would conveniently include his Salford side, but the 37-year-old seemed to brush it off as a non-starter.

In a sneak peek of Thursday's episode of Stick to Football that was revealed on Tuesday, Coleman said: "I’ve had conversations."

The next segment showed Neville, who asked: “Would you go to League One or League Two, I’m asking for a friend?"

Coleman replied, saying "“No, probably" followed by laughter from everyone on the panel.

Why Coleman's exit was definitely the right call for Everton

Coleman made 435 appearances for Everton, with 28 goals and 29 assists in those matches.

He is rightly recognised as one of the best to ever put on the blue shirt, but it was the correct time for both parties to end their association.

Coleman played just seven matches last season, as injuries hampered his attempts to contribute.

The fact that Neville even asked that question, shows the level that he is considered at right now after he left the Blues.

That is not a player who could benefit the L3 outfit, as they look to secure a European qualification berth.

His replacement at right-back, Ainsley Maitland-Niles has started his career with the Blues in fantastic fashion, with a stunning goal on his debut to salvage a draw against Manchester United.

It will take a long time for him to emulate the 81-cap international, but it was a good start for the former Arsenal man.
