Iliman Ndiaye has sparked fresh concerns over his Everton future.

The likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Hill Dickinson Stadium ace.

David Moyes' side have the control as he is contracted until 2029. However, it is not that simple.

Ndiaye has refused to sign several new contract offers, and has indicated that the Toffees do not match his ambitions.

However, he is in need of a serious reality check after his latest comments on his future plans.

He hinted that he wants to play at a higher level, but Everton fans know the reason why he has not already achieved that.

What has Iliman Ndiaye said about Everton future?

Ndiaye confirmed his ambitions to play in the Champions League, which seems to indicate that he wants to leave.

In an interview with Sportbible on Tuesday, he said: “You don’t know where football will take you next.

“As I’ve always said, I want to be the best player and to do that, you have to play at the top. I want to be playing at the top level. I want to be playing Champions League football.”

Why Ndiaye needs a reality check amid Champions League comments

If he wants to play in the Champions League, perhaps he should have scored more than six goals in the 2025-26 campaign.

In fact, since he came back from the Africa Cup of Nations, the Senegal star scored just two goals and notched one assist in 15 league games.

He may well have been playing in some kind of European football next season had he stepped up and performed for the Toffees, as they finsihed just four points off a UEFA Conference League spot.

However, he was extremely underwhelming and it would be a spectacular development if an elite European side took a gamble on him, given his performances.

It would be more than he deserves after his showing in the second half of the Blues' season.

The Toffees are well within their rights to reject any offers, but they may feel like they can upgrade given his miserable form at the business end.

If they can pull in a huge fee for a player who has never scored more than 11 goals in a Blues shirt in a single season, they may have a decision on their hands.

He may get his wish, but the Friedkin Group will the ones laughing to the bank, if he does end up moving on.
