Everton appear to be closing in on the signing of Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz this summer.

The 27-year-old moved to Juventus last summer after a five-year stint at Aston Villa.

However, after a disappointing campaign, he appears set to part ways with the Serie A giants.

Juventus put Luiz's departure on hold

According to Tuttosport (17 July), the Toffees have made significant progress in signing the Brazilian over the last few days.

Juventus want a loan with an obligation to buy, but they are putting his departure on hold.

Everton are very keen on Luiz and appear to be the frontrunners to secure his services this summer.

However, the Italian side need to balance their books before sanctioning his exit and are currently working on it.

David Moyes can look to get the best out of Luiz at Everton

David Moyes can maximise Luiz’s potential at Everton by deploying him as a dynamic box-to-box midfielder, leveraging his work rate and technical ability.

He has shone previously in the Premier League, excelling in ball progression and defensive contributions.

Moyes can pair him with Idrissa Gueye or James Garner, allowing Luiz to dictate tempo, break lines with passes and support attacks, while the other player anchors the midfield.

His adaptability suits Moyes’ pragmatic style, enhancing Everton’s transition play and set-piece threat.

Signing Luiz is ideal for Everton as, at 27, he’s a long-term investment, boosting their survival chances and European aspirations.

Hopefully, Juventus can sort out their finances quickly and sanction an exit as the Brazil international will need time to get used to his new teammates and adapt to a new system.
