Christian Kofane could be an Everton player in the 2026-2027 season.

As Everton begin to ramp up their business following the confirmed arrivals of Hayden Hackney and Tyrique George, a striker is wanted.

There have certainly been plenty of links throughout the last few weeks for that role.

And Cameroonian Kofane is yet another who could be part of David Moyes' squad.

As Everton will likely skim through their shortlist and decide who reaches the top of the list, there could be one factor that pushes Kofane up.

And that is based on the comments from his Bayer Leverkusen manager.

The odd request Christian Kofane made at Bayer Leverkusen

Kofane's links with Everton first emerged through the player's own agent, Eric Depolo in June.

Now, reports have shared that Everton made a "concrete offer" for Kofane.

Speaking ahead of Bayer Leverkusen's game against Arsenal in the Champions League in March 2026, manager Kasper Hjulmand relayed quite the interesting story.

Hjulmand revealed that after criticising some parts of Kofane, he came back the next day demanding for more critiques.

He said: "A few weeks ago, I criticised him a bit in training, and then the next day he came to me and said: 'Please, keep it up. I want more criticism, I want to learn.'

Kofane is still relatively new to European football, having only entered into Spanish second-tier side Albacete's academy in 2024, but the 19-year-old has risen through the ranks quickly.

He earned himself a move to Bayer Leverkusen, where he has already been able to play Champions League football.

Hjulmand commented on that fact as well sharing: "For me, it's simply impressive that Kofi came to Europe at the end of 2024 and moved here in the summer of 2025 - and how he has developed since then, the way he works, how he adapts and learns."

Who are the other names on Everton's list?

As stated previously, Kofane is not the only striker linked with Everton.

Folarin Balogun looks set to leave Monaco after Everton have reportedly eyed him.

West Ham's Taty Castellanos could be snapped up with the Toffees potentially taking advantage of the Hammers' relegation.

Meanwhile, target Karl Etta Eyong's lowered release clause could make him an attractive purchase.

Overall, the striker market is seemingly quite fleshed out this summer, and Everton are not short of options.

However, as things stand, it may not be the most pressing issue at hand, with the issue at right-back still yet to be resolved.
